PROGRESS SCORES - SUMMER 2017

Progress scores are presented as positive and negative numbers.  A score of zero means that when a school's key stage 2 results are compared against pupils with similar prior attainment (results at key stage 1) across England, pupils at the school have done as well at key stage 2 as the national average.

What are Confidence intervals:
Progress scores are calculated from the results of the specific year 6 pupils in the school at that point in time.   Some pupils may be more likely to achieve high or low results whichever school they attend.  To account for this natural uncertainty, the government calculates 95% Confidence intervals, which identify the range of scores that the school’s underlying performance can be confidently said to lie.
