Pupil and Parent Questionnaires

Every year, the Governors consult pupils and parents through questionnaires. In recent years these have focussed on attitudes to the school and learning, or specific areas for improvement, as well as responses to changes such as to school meals.

The feedback from recent questionnaires has been overwhelmingly positive and we thank parents and pupils for taking the time to respond to the questionnaires.  The vast majority of people polled were happy with their experience of the school, although we would always urge you to approach class teachers at any time if you have any questions or queries.  For instance, it was noted that in a recent questionnaire one parent thought there was too much homework whilst another would like more!  We encourage you to share your observations with the school at any time throughout the year so that we can all work together to help our children move forwards.

In March 2018, parents of children attending Little Angels were asked give their comments about their child's progress during their time at Pre-School.

In November 2017, parents attending Parents' Evenings were asked about their understanding of the data and information given to them by the class teachers.

In July 2017, all pupils completed a questionnaire about their attitudes to the school, teaching and safety.

In May 2017 governors spoke to groups of children from Years 1-6 on their attitudes to reading.

In March 2017, governors asked a representative panel of junior pupils for their views on religious education and Catholic Life in the school.

In May 2016 pupil groups from both infant and junior classes were asked about their experience and views of the school's religious education and Catholic life.

In February 2016 parents were asked for their views about their children's learning. Some parents queried the amount of homework given - whether too much or too little. The school is currently reviewing the Homework Policy and has asked all parents at the recent parents evening to comment.

In November 2015 (Parents' Evenings) governors invited parents to write any comments they wished on how the term was going so far for their child.

In March 2015  parents were asked a range of questions about the Catholic Ethos of the school. 32 questionnaires were completed during the Parents' Evenings and some of the suggestions made are now being followed up.

In October 2014, pupils were asked for their views about their learning, how they felt about school and what they did there and also what might make it better. The school council is already starting to follow up on some of the results of this survey.

In June 2014, parents were asked a range of questions about their child's learning, the quality of teaching, communication and management of the school. All of the families who responded said they would recommend St Mary Immaculate School to other parents. The school will follow up your comments about homework.

In May 2014, the governors' questionnaire set out to discover pupils' views on reading, since the school has recently embarked on a new 'reading school' initiative. We are pleased that reading is very popular and are introducing more opportunities to build upon this.

The March 2014 questionnaire looked at the school's communication with parents through the website and school newsletter. Improvements to the website have already been made as a result of parents' response.

The June 2013 questionnaire asked pupils how they felt about the work they did and how it could be even better. As a result, improvements have been made in all classes.
