The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is allocated as additional funding for disadvantaged pupils, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children.

School leaders should decide how to use the Pupil Premium and they are held accountable for their decisions through the school performance tables which show the performance of disadvantaged pupils compared to their peers.
