The aim of the lesson is to help students navigate the digital landscape safely.
Mardi Gras - 9th February
Mardi Gras is also known as Shrove Tuesday, it is the last day before Lent begins. Mardi Gras is French for Fat Tuesday, it is the last night of consuming rich, fatty foods in preparation for the fasting season of Lent.
To celebrate the day, we wore green, yellow or purple (green represents faith, yellow is for power and purple or justice). We designed masks, learnt about how different cultures celebrate Mardi Gras and made Lenten Promises we will review after Easter. We also coloured in and buried an Alleluia ready to uncover at Easter.
God and the Big Bang - 25th January
Year 5 and 6 were invited to St Joseph's today to attend God and the Big Bang discussion day. During the day, children learnt about climate change and how we know how the planet was created. Ancient Day - 11th September
On Monday 11th September, the children in Year 5 and 6 participated in an Ancient Greek themed day to launch our history topic. The children were invited to dress up as Ancient Greeks and had a fun-filled day packed full of activities linked to Ancient Greece.
They started their day by creating Olympic-themed Olive Leaf Wreaths then had a go at writing their names in Ancient Greek.
After lunch, they used clay to create their own Ancient Greek-inspired vases (which Greeks used to store food, wine and even used as urns in some cases!) and had the opportunity to taste pitta bread and hummus.
As you can see, the hummus went down a storm!
We had a great day and a great start to our learning where the children will learn all about Ancient Greece: Gods and Goddesses, the history of the Olympic games and much, much more!
Mary Pounds
Our Mary Pounds are ready to go!
Children will start receiving Mary Pounds from Monday 25th September for attending and being on time for school. They will have opportunities to spend these throughout the year.
